Adventure Tour to Mt. Everest Base Camp (8nights/9days)

D01 Arrival in Lhasa
Welcome to Tibet! Upon arrival transferred to the hotel. Better not do any activities at the first day in order to acclimatize Tibet environment. Better to drink some water and have a good sleep for next day¨s holy sightseeing excursion. Leave in Lhasa today.
Description:
Upon your arrival in Lhasa, you will find air is extremely pure and the sky is deeply blue.

D02 Lhasa sightseeing [B]
Visit Potala Palace for the whole morning, then in the afternoon, have a view of the Jokang Monastery, then walk on the Barkhor street surrounding Jokhang, a big free market with its prolific stalls for selling local specialties. Overnight in Lhasa city.
Description:
1. Potala Palace and Jokhang Monastery: Immerse yourselves into the Tibetan religion and sense the unique culture.
2. Barkhor Street: stroll around an interesting market featuring Tibetan, Nepalese local products.
Please note: as you know, there is limitation of the ingoing tourists number to enter to Potala Palace everyday for protect the palace, since the palace is made from clay and wood and it becomes very fragile now after years and it is very easy to collapse if too many tourists enter in the same time. And the visiting time is limited too, there is only one hour allowed for the sightseeing of the tourists once. So your sightseeing maybe change from the morning to the afternoon, or switch from one day to another according to the situation. But we guarantee all programs will be finished. Please be flexible in this arrangement, and thanks for your kind support and understanding. It is really a great achievement of Tibet ancestors, I hope you could have a good time in this grand palace.

D03 Lhasa sightseeing [B]
Visit Drepung Monastery for the whole morning, later after lunch, visit Sera monastery.  We can do the Sera Kora walk of about 1 hr and then catch the famous debate session of the monks before returning back to Lhasa. Overnight in Lhasa city.
Description:
1. Drepung Monastery: the ever largest monastery with more than 10 thousand monks. Buddhist debates often occur there.
2. Sera Monastery: a place to meditate, a place to relaxation.
You could do a kora around Drepung or Sera Monastery if you want. For Drepund Monastery, one and 1/2 hours at a leisurely pace, hard-core acclimatized trekkers might want to consider the 3 hrs climb up to a white retreat perched high behind the monastery on the steep rock face to Gephel Ri, which offers spectacular view. And for Sera Kora, it takes less than an hour and is well worth the time.

D04 Lhasa/Gyantse/Shigatse [B]
Drive to Gyantse, On the Ganba La (4,796 m) have a fantastic view of the holy lake of Yamdrok Yumtso (4441 m). Upon arrival, have a tour to Pelkor Monastery and Kumbum Stupa and then head to Shigatse. (Gyantse-Shigatse 90km, around 1.5 hours¨ driving). Overnight in Shigatse.
Description:
Lake Yamdrok Yumtso, one of the three largest lakes of Tibet, lies about a hundred kilometers' distance to the southwest of Lhasa, is within Langkamu county, with an area of 638 square kilometers and a coastal line of 250 kilometers. The deepest point is 60 metres. To the interior of the lake ten or so hilly islands stand independently one from the other which give homes to flocks of wild ducks. A lot of colorful ducks and geese are swimming on the surface of the lake. There is also plenty of natural fodder for the fish in the lake. The lake has a fish reserve of about 300 million kilograms. That is why it is called "the Fish Store of Tibet". The coast of the lake is an ideal pasture. All these make an intoxicating quite picture.

D05 Shigatse/Shegar [B]
Morning visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, then continue driving to Shegar via Gyatsola Mountain Pass (5220m). It takes 6-7 hours to get there covering 310 km. The road is bumpy and dusty. If time permits, have a tour to Sakya Monastery en route. Today you can appreciate the evening scenery of Mt. Everest enough. Check in the best available hotel in Shegar, but the accommodation condition is a little bit simple.

D06 D06 Shegar-Rongbuk Monastery-Mt. Everest-Lhatse
Although it's just 100km from Shegar to Base Camp (5200m), it takes about 4 hours since the cracked winding roads demand much caution. But the views are stupendous on a clear day, and feature a huge sweep of the Himalaya range including peaks over 8000, Makalu, Lhotse, Everest, Gyachung and Cho Oyu. The first views of Everest appear half an hour before you arrive at Rongbuk. Have a visit to Rongbuk, the highest monastery in the world on the way. Then you could hike or rent a carriage to get to EBC. When you finally get to Base Camp, the first sight of the mighty Everest simply leaves you speechless. All the hardship you bear along the way makes sense at this while.
The best moments to watch Mt. Everest's are early morning and late evening when Everest is shining like a goddess in the sunglow.
After the great time at EBC, we will drive back to Lhatse to check in.

D07 Lhatse/Lhasa [B]
In the morning, drive back to Lhasa along Yalung Tsangpo River, upon arrival, the free time at your disposal. Stay overnight in Lhasa.
